Outcomes

Pre-Snap Uncertainty.

In real football, each team knows what they plan to do just prior the snap but are uncertain about what the other team is planning. The offense knows the play they have called and can see the defense's personnel. The defense knows the scheme they have called and can see the offense's personnel. There is a range of possible outcomes to the play (some good and some bad) with the specific outcome being uncertain prior to the snap.

Fliip simulates this uncertainty within the "Ready. Set. Fliip!" play sequence. After specific play-cards are selected and placed face-down each player is faced with four possible outcomes prior to the Fliip.
From the Offense's Perspective.

Prior to the Fliip, the offense will know its play-card selection and the defense's personnel. At this point there are four possible outcomes from the offense's perspective given the four possible defense play-cards.

Fliip is designed such that each set of four includes at least two outcomes which are good for the offense and at least one outcome which is good for the defense.

In this example the offense has chosen HB Off Tackle and the defense has chosen Run-Stop personnel.  The four possible outcomes are gains of 9 and 7 yards, a no-gain, and a 5 yard tackle-for-loss (with an average gain of 2.8 yards).
From the Defense's Perspective.

Prior to the Fliip, the defense will know its play-card selection and the offense's personnel. At this point there are four possible outcomes from the defense's perspective given the four possible offense play-cards.

Fliip is designed such that each set of four includes at least two outcomes which are good for the offense and at least one outcome which is good for the defense.

In this example the defense has chosen Run-Stop Focus Left and the offense has chosen Base personnel. The four possible outcomes are gains of 14, 11, and 1 yards, and a 5 yard tackle-for-loss (with an average gain of 5.3 yards).

Game-Play.

The pre-Fliip uncertainty exists at the play level.  Your game-plan and ability to read your opponent's tendencies will control this uncertainty and influence your aggregate outcomes at the possession and game level.

In this example the outcome after the Fliip is a 5 yard tackle-for-loss. The defense won this play with their choice of personnel and the decision to focus to their left and shut-down conservative runs.
